Get Wichelstowe Walking

Walking is a great way to Discover Wichelstowe and once complete the Wichelstowe Trails will provide 12km of new paths running through the green spaces and alongside the sites water features.

Wichelstowe is also a great place to start exploring Swindon, walking north along the canal into the town centre or up Mill Lane towards Old Town and the Town Gardens or heading south towards the Ridgeway.

In 2023 local residents were asked to share their favourite Wichelstowe walks. The nine winning walks were published in the ‘Get Wichelstowe Walking’ magazine.

The Old Town Railway Path running along the northern boundary of Wichelstowe is part of Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 45. This section runs along the former route of the Midland and South West Junction Railway line.

Wichelstowe is the first residential development in the UK to achieve the ‘Modeshift STARS Silver’ travel plan accreditation recognising excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable and active travel.
