Boardwalk Play Area

Situated alongside the Wichelstowe Boardwalk between Middle and West Wichel, the public play area is designed for primary-age children and will give families from across the local area a safe and accessible place to enjoy outdoor play.

The play area is for use by children under 12 and includes a number of pieces of play equipment. The area also includes a few picnic benches for all members of the family to sit and relax.

There are to be no dogs, ball games, litter, alcohol or glass, or smoking/vaping within the play area.

The Boardwalk play area was officially opened by pupils from Kingfisher CE Academy in May 2026.

Charlotte from Kingfisher CE Academy, said: “Helping to open the new play area was so much fun! I love the swings and the climbing frame, and I can’t wait to come back to play with all my friends.”

Dan Pavely, Wichelstowe’s Project Director, added: Seeing our littlest VIPs take part in the ribbon-cutting and enjoy the play area was a real joy. I’m sure it will become a favourite spot for families to come together, play and make happy memories.”
